Storms River Mouth
Rock And Surf fishing spot
Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park is one of the wildest, most beautiful fishing settings in the country — sheer cliffs, deep gulleys and surging blue water. The gulleys hold big blacktail, bream and galjoen, with musselcracker and kob in the deeper washes.
Crucially, most of the Tsitsikamma MPA is a no-take zone: angling is only permitted in specific designated areas, and regulations are enforced. Confirm the current open zones with SANParks before wetting a line.
Where fishing is allowed, this is heavy-tackle, strong-leader country: the terrain is unforgiving and the swell surges hard into the gulleys. Fish with a partner, wear grippy boots, and never fish exposed ledges in big sea. The reward is fish sizes the protected coast produces.
