Plettenberg Bay's long surf beaches — Robberg Beach, Central, Lookout and Keurbooms — offer classic Cape surf fishing with easy access and consistent results. Kob are the prime summer target after dark, with garrick taken on live baits and spoons around the river mouths. Blacktail, galjoen (in winter) and steenbras keep light-tackle anglers busy through the day.
Read the beach at low tide to find the deeper holes and gutters; the area near the Piesang River outflow and the Lookout rocks are reliable starting points. Shad run through the bay in autumn.
The bay is sheltered from the worst westerly swells, making it fishable when other venues are blown out. Parking and access are easy along Beachy Head Drive and at Lookout Beach.
