Shore fishing spot

Vleesbaai Surf
📍 -34.2850, 21.9300🧭 Best winds: Light offshore/westerly mornings; light SW cleans the water🌊 Best tide: Two hours either side of high tide into the gutters🚗 Public parking at main beach access

Vleesbaai's crescent beach faces west, giving it protection from the prevailing summer easterlies and making it a reliable back-up when other venues are blown out. The beach fishes best at the rocky corners: galjoen and blacktail in the winter washes, kob in the deeper gutters after dark, and steenbras on light tackle through the day.

The Fransmanshoek peninsula at the southern end offers deeper rock fishing for bream, zebra and the occasional musselcracker. Sand prawn and pink prawn baits do the light-tackle damage; fresh sardine and chokka for the kob.

Access is through the village (respect private property) and along the beach. It's quiet water — often you'll have a kilometre of beach to yourself, which is exactly the appeal.

⚠️ Safety: Watch shore-break and side-wash; never turn your back on the sea
