Noordhoek Deep Sea
Deep Sea fishing spot
The deep sea grounds off Noordhoek and greater Algoa Bay offer Eastern Cape offshore fishing at its best. Inshore reefs produce roman, dageraad, silverfish and kob; the deeper marks hold big musselcracker, geelbek (at night) and copper steenbras. Summer brings gamefish — yellowtail, katonkel and dorado along the warm lines, with tuna possible further out.
Most trips launch from the Noordhoek ski-boat club or the harbour, fishing 20–80 m depending on target. Standard bottom traces with chokka and sardine do the reef work; live baits and trolled lures for the gamefish.
Algoa Bay's islands and wrecks concentrate fish but some areas fall within MPA zones — know the boundaries. Several charters operate from Gqeberha for visiting anglers, and the bay's relative shelter gives more fishable days than most of the coast.
