Shore fishing spot

Jeffreys Bay Point
📍 -34.0500, 24.9300🧭 Best winds: Light offshore/westerly mornings; light SW cleans the water🌊 Best tide: Two hours either side of high tide into the gutters🚗 Public parking at main beach access

Jeffreys Bay's world-famous point does more than produce perfect waves — the same structure funnels baitfish along the rocks, and predators follow. Kob and garrick are taken from the rocks and the adjacent beach, especially at dawn, dusk and after dark when the surfers thin out. Autumn and winter bring strong shad runs, and the ledges toward Noorsekloof produce blacktail, zebra, bream and winter galjoen.

The beaches toward Aston Bay and the Kabeljous mouth offer classic surf fishing for kob and steenbras with easier access and fewer people.

Throwing spoons and plugs off the point at first light is the local method for the gamefish; bait anglers work the gutters south of the point. Respect the surf line-up — fishing and surfing coexist here by keeping out of each other's water.

⚠️ Safety: Watch shore-break and side-wash; never turn your back on the sea
