Groot Brak River Mouth
📍 -34.0600, 22.2400🧭 Best winds: Light westerly; overcast windless days fish well🌊 Best tide: Incoming tide through the mouth; first of the ebb for kob🚗 Informal parking near the mouth

The Groot Brak river mouth is a compact, productive venue that fishes very differently depending on whether the mouth is open or closed. Open: garrick and kob push into the channel on the incoming tide, and the estuary's grunter feed actively on the disturbed prawn banks. Closed: the lagoon behind the berm still offers steady grunter and steenbras fishing on light tackle.

The beaches either side — toward Tergniet and Glentana — hold kob in the gutters and galjoen in the winter white water at the rocky stretches.

It's an easy, safe venue with good access from the village, suited to evening sessions and light-tackle estuary work. Check mouth status locally; the municipality breaches it artificially at times, which triggers excellent fishing for a few days.

⚠️ Safety: Strong currents at the mouth on spring tides — wading is dangerous
