Buffalo Bay (Buffelsbaai) is a sweeping horseshoe beach west of Knysna with a rocky point at its western end — a combination that offers something in most conditions. The surf produces kob in the gutters (summer evenings are best) and steady shad in autumn, while the point and its ledges give up galjoen, blacktail and bream in the winter months.

The protected inner corner is gentle enough for family sessions, and the walk toward Brenton-on-Sea opens kilometres of lightly fished beach.

There's a slipway for small boats and paddle-skis, giving access to the inshore reefs for silverfish and roman. A small shop and parking at the beach make logistics easy. It's a relaxed, uncrowded alternative to the busier Knysna-area venues.

⚠️ Safety: Watch shore-break and side-wash; never turn your back on the sea
